Patriot GuardThis day was spent in tribute to my father, Ed Roufberg, who passed away on July 12 in a sudden and inconvenient fashion. I was able to obtain a large selection of his music and I played a mix of some of the songs and artists that were known to be his favorites. I also interviewed a member of the Patriot Guard Riders which my father was a proud member of, and intended to interview a member of Rotary International, which my father was also a very active and proud member of.

This day I was joined in the WVKR studio by the extraordinary Fred Gillen Jr. and Matt Turk. Truly gifted singers/songwriters/instrumentalists whose lyrics cut to the core of some of the major social, political, and humanitarian realities we live with. They are Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and all the greats. From their website: Singer-songwriters Fred Gillen Jr. and Matt Turk are two of a kind. Genuinely multi-instrumental and song-infected, they are descendents of both cosmic cowboys and crusading poets. Plug them in for best effect.

Listen to Interview with Dean Velvel >>

I spoke with Lawrence Velvel, the Dean of the Massachusetts School of Law at Andover, to discuss his call to conference to plan war crimes trials of Bush and other High Level Bush Administration officials. "This is not intended to be a mere discussion of violations of law that have occurred," said convener Velvel, "It is, rather, intended to be a planning  conference at which plans will be laid and necessary organizational structures set up, to pursue the guilty as long as necessary and, if need be, to the ends of the Earth."

I aired an interview conducted with former federal prosecutor Elizabeth De La Vega (author if US v Bush et. al.) . Elizabeth published a number of articles and explanations of Congressman Dennis Kucinich's 35 articles of impeachment introduced on to the House floor Monday, June 9 to hopefully simplify the violations and ramifications of the Bush Administrations actions. Also in the audio segment (actually the intro to the program) is the reading of an article from international legal expert Prof Francis Boyle on "Harvard's Kangaroo Law School--The School for Torturers".
