Radio Active Lunch is now a 2 hour program. This means: more music, more satire, and more human rights based/focused social and political issues with leading experts in respective fields from around the globe. Jay (bass), Weezer (guitar), and Hector (drums) - The Miles Brothers - joined me in the Lunch Room today and performed some great jazz, blue, and reggae standards along with an original or two. This trio has an incredibly well crafted sound and is, in my opinion, one of the best bands in the area for blues and rock - dynamic, chopsy, and spirited. I am hoping they will consider being the RadioActiveLunch house band.
I started off the program with some music from the Fully Celebrated Orchestra and the Lunch Factor before I interviewed Anthony Papa(acclaimed artist, jailhouse attorney, and author) with the Drug Policy Alliance.
Iraq War veterans will be giving testimony to to the full Congressional Progressive Caucus this week. Remember, Winter Soldier was public testimony by Vietnam War Vets back in 1971 (or 72) which arguably shifted public opinion towards the War. IVAW conducted a Winter Soldier testimony in March of this year and after working with congress, was able to schedule hearings. I spoke with the DC Chapter President of IVAW, Geoff Millard, over the weekend and aired the audio of our interview.
