I spoke with Marc Bekoff , Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at U Colorado, about his latest book "The Animal Manifesto: Six Reasons for Expanding Our Compassion Footprint." This book gives 6 reasons, from an other-than-human animal perspective, suggesting what animals would ask us to notice about them such that we would change our behavior towards them- generally one of disconnect and discord - acknowledging they are individuals with complex intellectual and emotional lives.

Marc is also an ambassador for Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program, in which he works with students of all ages, senior citizens, and prisoners, and also is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Jane Goodall Institute.
